According to the latest research report by Engelbert Paschek (May 2025), data on the spread of this disease remains incomplete and largely underreported, especially in regions without mandatory case reporting. This lack of accurate information makes prevention more difficult and delays public health responses.The study shows that ticks are now widespread throughout Germany and many other parts of Europe, particularly in forested and grassy areas. Because tick bites are typically painless and often go unnoticed, the infection can be transmitted without warning.
